Shea butter is just about the best moisturiser I have come across for skin. When I lived in Ghana it was a product I got to know well as it is readily produced there. At the time it seemed like a well kept African secret that shea butter keeps your skin looking great. In recent years shea butter has appeared in European markets and is a regularly used ingredient in moisturising products. I was a firm believer that only pure shea butter can give your skin the sheen it deserves, however the down side to this is that it can be quite greasy to apply and often has a slightly unpleasant smell. So how delighted was I when I came upon Naturally Sexy's Shea Hair and Body Butter. It is smooth and creamy and glides easily on to your skin leaving it beautifully moisturised. It is blended with a bunch of other lovely moisturising oils and is as good as pure shea butter. In addition it smells heavenly; like a basket of fresh fruit, which is a big plus. It can also be used on hair however my skin wanted to keep it all for itself and not share with my locs! For those of you who want to keep your skin looking young and vibrant log on to http://www.naturallysexy.co.uk/ and buy buy buy! Its a brilliantly interesting and informative website for all of you with natural hair; locs, afros, plaits etc so go take a look.
Welcome
So who am I? I am a black woman of African descent, born in the UK, married to a lovely Welsh bloke with 3 even lovelier kids! So here 's the thing: I love living in the UK, but I have one major issue, and that is that for most of my life it has been exceptionally difficult to find hair and beauty products that are right for me. Black skin comes in a range of beautiful colours from the very light to the very dark; however, this fact appears to be lost on the majority of shops selling cosmetics. It doesn't necessarily mean that the products are not out there, but just that you often have to search hard to find them.
For this reason I am setting out on a quest to find the best products, for black women, that make us feel gorgeous.
The products may not be specifically produced for black women, so I hope that all women will find some of the products appealing.
I will test anything and everthing on myself, my family and friends and anyone else who is willing. I want to share this journey and my experiences with you, so hence the blog.
I would like this to be an interactive forum; I would love to hear from you so that we can share views and information. Tell me which products you can't live without, which ones you hate, and what you need but can't find. Leave a comment or contact me at zelda.wolfle@googlemail.com Why not climb on board - I hope you enjoy the ride!
